The Monday Tilley Watch takes a glancing look at the art and artists of the latest issue of The New Yorker
The Cover: a Chastian placemat
The Cartoonists & Cartoons:
Fourteen cartoons, sixteen cartoonists (Roz Chast has the cover, and Liana Finck has a “Sketchbook”). There’s one duo, that we know of (the Spill counts duos as one cartoonist). No newbies. The longest active contributor in the issue is this cartoonist.
The George Booth cartoon leading off the issue is part of cartoon editor, Emma Allen’s “Postscript” for Mr. Booth, who passed away last week.

The Cartoon Caption Contest Cartoonists: Lars Kenseth, Bob Eckstein, Akeem Roberts
The Rea Irvin Talk Watch:
Way way back in May of 2017, Rea Irvin’s classic Talk Of The Town design (shown above) was replaced by — if you can believe it — a redraw. The Spill continues to hope the redraw is ditched, and Rea Irvin’s design returns. It’s never too late! Read more here.
