Group Exhibit In Connecticut Includes Work By Arthur Getz

The Rose Algrant Show in West Cornwall Connecticut will include work by the late exceptionally great New Yorker artist Arthur Getz. Mr. Getz holds the title of most prolific cover artist in the magazine’s history (213 in his 50 years of contributing).
The Spill contacted Mr. Getz’s daughter for information on what we can expect to see of her father’s work at the exhibit:
“…there are a few New Yorker related pieces but no original cover art paintings per se. There are two “killed“ covers, bought but never published, plus five cover versions…”
Arthur Getz’s A-Z Entry:
Arthur Getz Born, Passaic, New Jersey, 1913; died, 1996. NYer work: 1938 -1988. Primarily a cover artist, he had one cartoon published: March 15, 1958. (You might say his career was a mirror image of George Price’s, who was one of the most prolific cartoonists, with over 1200 published, and one cover). According to the official Getz website, he was the most prolific of all New Yorker cover artists, having 213 appear during the fifty years he contributed to the magazine.
