The Spill asked a few long-time New Yorker artists to say a few words about their colleague, Bill Woodman, who passed away last Saturday. Here’s what Sam Gross had to say:

“Bill and I wrote and drew gags together for over 30 years. Every Thursday we would do it at either my apartment or his studio. We usually started 1pm and at 5pm we would open up the Jack Daniels.
I still keep the old schedule. I miss him.”

Mark Ulriksen is the latest New Yorker artist featured on Jane Mattimoe’s terrific blog, A Case For Pencils. (Mr. Ulriksen is not a cartoonist, but the Spill is ever so slowly broadening its coverage to include non-cartoonist New Yorker artists).

See the Case here.
