Some Swann Auction Results
Some interesting results from Swann’s “Illustration Art: Featuring Highlights From The Collection of Jules Feiffer”
No surprise that a few Charles Addams pieces went for a bit more than your average New Yorker cartoon original. This one however was relatively inexpensive (for an Addams original), as was this one, but otherwise Addams realized prices were about double that.
Fro me, the highlight of the auction was this classic Richard Taylor drawing, originally published in The New Yorker August 29, 1942. As you can see below it well exceeded the estimate.
There were “bargains” to be had (scroll through the results to see for yourself). One in particular was this wonderful piece by Carl Rose.
