How great for cat people, and how great for dog people (and, I suppose how great for cat and dog people): Bob Eckstein’s The Complete Book Of Cat Names (this August from Countryman Press), and from Jeremy Nguyen, Can I Pet Your Dog? (Chronicle Books, December 2022). 

Bob Eckstein began contributing to The New Yorker in July of 2007.
