Thanks to yesterday’s big book wrap-up by D.D. Degg on The Daily Cartoonist I noticed Singular Sensations: A Cultural History of One-Panel Comics in The United States by Michelle Ann Abate (Rutgers University Press).

From the publisher:

“Singular Sensations is the first book-length critical study to examine this important but long-neglected mode of cartoon art.”

Of particular interest to Spill readers is Chapter Three: “‘The New Yorker’s Most Influential Cartoonist’: Peter Arno And The Extraordinary Ordinary of Everyday Life”

Singular Sensations will be out September 13 of this year.
