“CBS Mornings” Profiles New Yorker Cartoon Editor Emma Allen

Emma Allen, who has been sitting in The New Yorker‘s Cartoon Editor’s chair since May of 2017 is profiled on today’s “CBS Mornings” (it’s archived here for those who missed it). A fun piece with a glimpse of the Art Meeting along with appearances by the magazine’s Editor, David Remnick, and cartoonists, Ellie Black and Suerynn Lee.

Among the highlights of the piece, we hear what she’s looking for when she’s looking through submissions, and how many times she might laugh while going through that process.  Also notable: a Harold Ross-ism from David Remnick as he examines a drawing being considered: “Who’s talking?”

  1. Thank you for the heads up about Emma Allen and CBS Mornings –
It was an excellent interview –
I was particularly happy with David Remnick’s question – “Who’s talking?” – a question I have to sort out at times when doing my weekly caption contest captions.
and I loved the “add the nose” suggestion from Emma Allen – somehow I got the impression that Ellie Black didn’t agree but she added the nose.
I enjoyed every minute of the video and again Michael thanks for the heads up.
