Thurber Thursday: You’re Kidding, Right?; Latest Cartoon Caption Contest Podcast Guest: Michael Shaw; American Bystander #18 In The House

You’re Kidding, Right?

Here’s what the cover of the original edition of James Thurber’s Let Your Mind Alone! looks like. It was published exactly eighty-four years and one day ago (for those not wanting to do the math: September 8, 1937).

I think it’s quite a beautiful cover, but then I think almost every Thurber book cover is beautiful.

Here are three more versions (there are more, but a sample will do.

They’re all fine —  it’s tough to go wrong putting a Thurber drawing on a cover.

Imagine my surprise when I came across this cover for the Kindle edition. I’d like to think this cover is someone’s idea of a parody cover (on a book that parodies other books). But I’m not so sure. The best bet really is to let your Thurber book covers alone.
