“Giddydown”
The below drawing of mine that originally appeared in The New Yorker in the issue of February 29, 2016 recently showed up on The New Yorker‘s Instagram feed. Was glad to see it again; I remember feeling very much under James Thurber’s spell (more so than usual!) while drawing it. At the time I was in a period of studying his Fables For Our Time drawings. While the Thurber inspiration may or may not be evident, it’s there — not so much the cowboy as in the horse and the caption.
