Edward Koren’s Supermarketing Packet
The Spill‘s archives are so much richer because of folks who send objets d’New Yorker cartoon art this way. I’m so grateful for the generosity shown the Spill.
A recent arrival is this small postcard size advertising packet featuring the late great Edward Koren‘s art. I looked though all the materials within the packet but could not find a date (if I had to guess, I’d place it in the 1980s or 90s). Below left you see the cover with the I’m Demographically Perfect t-shirt wearing fellow happily running along. Opening the packet you see a stack of pieces, mostly information-based. Three show cartoon art.
Mr. Koren’s wonderful bookplate is first. It’s actually a sticker. There’s a peel-off layer on the reverse side.
There are also these info-cards with art by Glen Baxter (left) and Lou Myers:

- An invitation to an exclusive meet and greet with David Remnick and New Yorker editors and cartoonists, with live personalized cartooning.
The Spill will update any further cartoonist participation (Liana Finck illustrations are used throughout the Festival’s online presence).
