Latest Addition To The Spill Library
A friend sent this slightly ancient book to me the other day. They don’t publish volumes like this anymore (or do they?). As you can see by the text, both on the cover (art by Elwood Smith) and back cover (art by Edward Sorel, Guy Billout, Seymour Chwast, and Michael Witte), this book was sponsored by the good folks at The Society Of Illustrators, celebrating work in various fields exhibited at the Society.
Once I had time to go through it I was pleased to see so many New Yorker folks represented (as the book was published in 1987, a number of the following artists had not yet been published in The New Yorker. I could be wrong about this, but I believe only Mr. Blechman, Mr. Park, Mr. Searle, and Mr. Woodman were appearing in the magazine at the time): R.O. Blechman, Keith Bendis, Tom Bloom, Steve Brodner, Peter de Seve, Felipe Galindo, Steven Guarnaccia, Peter Kuper, Rick Meyerowitz. W.B. Park, Mimi Pond, Arnold Roth. Ronald Searle, Edward Sorel, Michael Witte, and Bill Woodman.
