The Cartoonists And Cartoons:
Fourteen cartoons, seventeen cartoonists (Ed Steed handles the Spots, Navied Mahdavian has a Sketchbook, and Will McPhail has a Sketchpad). One duo, that we know of (the Spill counts duos as one cartoonist). No newbies. The longest active cartoonist contributor in this issue — and the longest active New Yorker artist in modern times — is Edward Koren. Here’s his Spill A-Z entry:
Edward Koren ( photo: Fall 2016, courtesy of Gil Roth) Born, 1935. New Yorker work: May 26, 1962 — . Key collections: Do You Want To Talk About It? The Rea Irvin Talk Watch:
In May of 2017, Rea Irvin’s iconic Talk design, show below, was taken down from its perch of 92 years and replaced by — gasp! — a redraw. The Spill continues to hope it is returned. Read more here.
