Snippet Of Interest: Updike & Thurber
From a documentary film* on John Updike (a small portion of it seen here…the below quote is at 1:14):
John Updike: “I did get into The New Yorker. I didn’t become James Thurber, but then nobody, nobody else could.”
*I’d love to someday see the entire documentary, What Makes Rabbit Run?: A Profile On John Updike.” According to The New York Times review (July 13, 1983) it was directed by BBC film maker John Cheshire and presented by the Boston PBS station WGBH. If someone out there has access to a copy, I’d love to hear from you. _______________________________________________________
