The Monday Tilley Watch Takes A Glancing Look At Some Of The Art & Artists Of The Latest Issue Of The New Yorker

The Cover: ordinarily, the Spill  does not show the latest cover, but comments on it with just a word or two, but I came up one or two words short this week. So here it is.  

The Cartoonists & Cartoons: 

Eight cartoons, eight cartoonists (eleven counting the Caption Contest cartoonists). No newbies. No duos, that we know of. The longest active cartoonist in the issue is Bruce Eric Kaplan, who began contributing to The New Yorker in 1991.

The Rea Irvin Talk Watch:

Below is the late great Rea Irvin’s iconic Talk design. In May of 2017 it was whooshed away from its 92 old perch and replaced — believe it or not — by a redrawn version. The Spill continues to hope Mr. Irvin’s design will be returned.
