The Cartoonists & Cartoons:

Fourteen cartoons, fourteen cartoonists, with one duo (that we know of): Guerra & Boothby. No newbie or newbies. The longest contributing cartoonist in this issue is Roz Chast, whose first New Yorker drawing appeared in the summer of 1978 (the July 3rd issue). The most recent cartoonist contributor is Asher Perlman, whose first New Yorker cartoon appeared in June of 2021 (June 6th, for those keeping track).

You can see all of this week’s offerings on newyorker.com here.

The Rea Irvin Talk Watch:

You won’t see Rea Irvin’s classic Talk Of The Town design in The New Yorker, but you can see it here every Monday, until it’s back where it belongs.

This iconic design was 86ed in the Spring of 2016 and replaced by….if you can believe it: a redraw.

Read about it here.
