Monday Tilley Watch: The New Yorker (Double) Issue Of April 25 & May 2, 2022

The Monday Tilley Watch Takes A Glancing Look At The Art & Artists Of The Latest Issue Of The New Yorker

The Cover: Hmmm, a theme developing?

The Cartoonists & Cartoons:

Seventeen cartoons, seventeen cartoonists, with one duo that we know of (the Spill counts duos as one cartoonist). Two newbies: Adam Sacks, who is the 10th addition to the magazine’s stable this year, and the 110th addition during cartoon editor, Emma Allen’s watch, begun in the Spring of 2017. Matt Reuter is the 11th addition this year and the 111th since 2017. The longest active contributor in this issue is Frank Cotham, whose work began appearing in The New Yorker in 1993.

The Rea Irvin Talk Watch:

Sadly,  the above iconic Talk design by Rea Irvin was shuffled off to Buffalo in the Spring of 2017 and replaced by — gasp! — a redraw. Read more about it here.
