Here’s a link to Lisa Mecham’s brand new Judith Shahn site, Finding Judy, described as:

” a digital archive project devoted to celebrating the life and work of Judith Shahn—a prolific, yet often overlooked American artist of the 20th century.”

Ms. Shahn had one New Yorker cover, and buckets-full of Spot drawings in The New Yorker.

Barbara Shermund Exhibit In Vermont

The year of Barbara Shermund* continues with an exhibit in the Green Mountain State.

From the website:

This special gallery opening features a curated selection of her original cartoons, offering a rare look at her legacy and artistic voice. The evening will include a talk by curator Timothy Stevenson, who will explore Shermund’s life, humor, and cultural impact.

Barbara Shermund (self portrait shown here) Born, San Francisco. 1899. Studied at The California School of Fine Arts. Died, 1978, New Jersey. New Yorker work: June 13, 1925 thru September 16, 1944. 8 covers and 599 cartoons. Shermund’s post-New Yorker work was featured in Esquire.
