Possibly my all-time fave New Yorker Valentine’s Day cover. From the one, the only, Charles Addams. Published February 16, 1981. It was used as the cover of his 1981 collection, Creature Comforts.
I don’t remember many moments of being so wowed by a cover that the moment of first seeing it stayed with me (another such moment was when Steinberg’s cover of March 13, 1978 appeared). The Addams cover struck me as perfection.
