Wednesday Spill: The Spill’s 16th; Roz Chast’s Book Tour

Back in August of 2007, when I nervously decided to launch Ink Spill, the idea was to make it a sort of New Yorker cartoonist bulletin board, with a healthy dose of history. Those basic elements have hung in there — they remain the backbone of the site.

Sixteen years later, I begin each day happily fishing for New Yorker cartoonist news, and/or diving into the magazine’s archives. The daily approach is somewhat similar to how I work on cartoons: let’s just see what happens. Luckily, my contemporary New Yorker cartoonist colleagues never rest when it comes to book publishing, exhibiting their work, podcasting, and of course, drawing cartoons. And then there’s The New Yorker‘s incredibly rich art history. As of this writing, 714 artists have contributed cartoons to the magazine over these past 97 years; each and every one is of interest to me. My reward throughout these years is knowing that they and their work is of interest to you, the reader.

Roz Chast’s Book Tour

Ms. Chast posted the below schedule on social media yesterday. Her book, I Must Be Dreaming is out October 24th. In addition to this tour, she’ll also take part in the upcoming New Yorker Festival. I’ll post event details once they’re available. Speaking of the Festival, I should also note that it will include a “meet and greet” with cartoonists. Details not yet available on the who, where, and when.
