Bob Eckstein Visits Edward Koren’s “Down To The Bone” Exhibit
Bob Eckstein, who began contributing to The New Yorker in 2007, recently paid a visit to The Edward Koren & Stephen Gorman Exhibit at The Peabody Essex Museum, has filed this report:

“I had the great opportunity to visit the exhibit, Down to the Bone: Edward Koren and Stephen Gorman at the Peabody Essex Museum in Essex, Massachusetts. I had been planning this for months knowing I was going to be meeting with the curator of the museum for a separate project on illustrating the most fascinating museums in North America. But my fascination with the North Pole and love of Koren’s cartoons, made this a priority on my museum road trip this summer (we have done panels together and I include him in all my cartoon books––what can I say, I’m a big fan of the man and his cartoons).
In this beautiful multi-media installation, the
New Yorker cartoon great, and famed naturalist photographer Stephen Gorman combine their gifts to raise awareness on climate change. I don’t have the skills to put into words the effect the photos have or Koren’s genius with his line work but this is an
interview with them if you can’t make it up there. The show is up until Feb 5th, 2023.”
