Emily Sanders Hopkins On Her “Women Laughing” Experience 

From Emily Sanders Hopkins’ Substack post, Emily Writes Back,  “Presidential Candidates, Patients, And Cartoonists Who happen To be Women”

Ms. Hopkins began contributing to The New Yorker in 2004. In the photo taken at The Algonquin Hotel during Sunday’s round table filming for Liza Donnelly’s documentary film Women Laughing, Ms. Hopkins appears with New Yorker cartoonist colleague, Amy Hwang. Ms. Hopkin notes: “…here I am (“first known Black woman New Yorker cartoonist”) with Amy Hwang, the first Asian New Yorker cartoonist that we know of.”

Latest Addition To The Spill Archive: A Stack Of Cartoonist PROfiles.

Spill visitors continue to be incredibly generous. The latest gift to the archives is this large stack of Jud Hurd’s terrif Cartoonist PROfiles.

The Spill archive had just a handful of these until the other day. Many of the issues contain articles (yes, profiles) by Mr. Hurd on New Yorker cartoonists that can’t be found anywhere else.

Of particular interest to me in this gift stack is the Complete 30-Year Index. There’s almost nothing more helpful (in the research bubble) than an excellent index.
