Podcast Episode Of Interest: Ken Levine
From Ken Levine, one of the newest of The New Yorker cartoonist newbies (his debut New Yorker cartoon appeared in the magazine’s first issue of 2022): “Cartooning For Fun And A Little Profit.” Mr. Levine gives us a personal history of his love of and for cartoons. If you want to head right into his first brush with The New Yorker, it appears later in the pod, but I recommend beginning at around 22:00 when Mr. Levine talks about meeting the great Al Hirschfeld.

The Daily Cartoonist Shows Us Alan Dunn’s 1st New Yorker Drawing
A tip of the hat to D.D. Degg over at The Daily Cartoonist for mentioning the Spill’s Alan Dunn piece of the other day. The Spill focused on the sum of Dunn’s career, showing his very last published New Yorker drawing. Mr. Degg shows you Mr. Dunn’s first. You can see it here.
More Dunn: Alan Dunn’s bio and self portrait from Meet The Artist, a catalog accompanying the 1943 group exhibit of artist self-portraits at San Francisco’s M.H. de Young Memorial Museum.
