Wednesday Spill: A Rescue; A Fave Thanksgiving New Yorker Cover

It seems it’s becoming a Spill tradition to show this New Yorker drawing of mine (from the issue of December 8, 2014),  and one other (on Thanksgiving day),  followed by one on Friday by Liza Donnelly (leftovers-themed).

A Favorite Thanksgiving New Yorker Cover

Of the many Thanksgiving themed New Yorker covers, the one shown below, by Abe Birnbaum, has always been among my favorites (I’m a fan of all of Mr. Birnbaum’s covers for the magazine).

Looking through the magazine this morning, one of the first things I saw was this wonderful drawing by Henry Martin, one of the masters of The New Yorker “Spot” drawing:

The cartoonists in the issue (an issue of 248 pages!) include Steinberg, Chon Day (with two drawings), Frank Modell, Dana Fradon, Lee Lorenz, Robert Day (a full page), Otto Soglow, James Stevenson (with two drawings), Mischa Richter, Everett Opie, James Mulligan, Stan Hunt, CEM (Charles E. Martin), and Barney Tobey.

Here’s one of Chon Day’s :
