A One-Of-A-Kind(?) Volume Of New Yorker Material

I came across this 1939 volume of New Yorker material yesterday. If the price wasn’t stratospheric ($588.00), I would’ve snapped it up.

I came across the above 1939 volume of New Yorker material yesterday. If the price wasn’t stratospheric ($588.00)  I would’ve snapped it up.  It seems to be a one-of-a-kind production. The copy by the editor, Saul Shapiro, looks to be snatched right out of a typewriter. (Another listing of another even pricier volume of collected New Yorker work tells us about Mr. Shapiro:

” The Montrealer, Saul Shapiro, amassed a diverse Anglo-American library, and the exhibit features…

Owner of extensive library of Judaica

Within the volume, titled Selections From The New Yorker, it appears that Mr. Shapiro, used tear sheets (of both text and art) from various issues of the magazine (see the listing with more photos here).  There’s even an index of artists and contributors (courtesy of Mr. Shapiro). A fascinating production all around!
