A New Yorker Ad From The Olden Times

Here’s an ad from The New Yorker that appeared 59 years ago (1967).

The magazine cost thirty-five cents then (it’s ten ninety-nine now). I found this section of the ad particularly interesting:

“…the cover changes weekly. There are no bands or banners to catch the eye. No headlines on the cover announcing what’s inside.”

All these years later, it continues to be true that the cover changes weekly, but for quite some time now the newsstand cover has appeared behind a flap “announcing what’s inside.”
