Tuesday Spill: To The Beach! (Via Cartoons)

Just days away from the Fourth of July, things are fairly quiet in New Yorker cartoonland. The cartoon department has unplugged for a couple of weeks, and the latest issue of the New Yorker is a double (we won’t see a new issue until July 14th!). I thought this might be a good moment to head to the beach via cartoons. Below are a few of my (mostly) Jersey shore-inspired New Yorker drawings that’ve appeared over the years. Hope you enjoy.

Dates of publication:

“You’d save everybody a lot of trouble…” June 18, 2001

“Is that an inflatable sea horse…?” August 21, 2000

“This is my favorite part of our summer…”  June 30, 1986

Beach evolution  September 3, 2001

“Surf’s Up.” August 23, 1982

“Soon you will be immersed…” July 13, 1981
