A long long time ago when The New Yorker was a fresh-faced publication just three years of age, it published its first Album of Drawings, called, The New Yorker Album.
Here’s how the magazine advertised it within its own pages. This ad appeared in the issue of December 15, 1928:
And just a year later, the magazine gathered together more drawings for The Second New Yorker Album (this ad appeared in the issue of November 30, 1929):
Since these two collections were published, we’ve been treated to a pile of “Albums.”
Proof! Here’s an actual pile of them I assembled some time back.
I encourage you to seek out any of these collections.
As the ad says, you’ll no doubt experience “priceless, spontaneous laughs that exercise the stomach muscles with deep, unforgettable hysterics.”
