Thurber Thursday: A Promotional Booklet For “The Years With Ross”

A Promotional Booklet For “The Years With Ross”

I’ve seen this promotional booklet — and only this one copy — for James Thurber’s wonderful The Years With Ross listed online for a number of years. I love the look of it; the Harold Ross photos by Cornell Capa are great. The seller tells us that the booklet is 16 pages (booklet size: 8 1/4″ x 10 14/16″…so precise!).

A fuller photo of several of Capa’s Ross photos, along with an article, appear here in the December 1949 LIFE magazine.

You might ask: did Cornell Capa ever photograph Thurber?  Not that I can find. however, he did photograph an ABC production of Thurber’s 13 Clocks for LIFE.

The original (1959)Years With Ross cover below left, and the 2000 edition using a Capa Ross photo.
