Donnelly ‘s “Brief History Of The New Yorker Cartoon” At 92NY

 

Last Fall, Liza Donnelly, longtime New Yorker cartoonist and cartoon historian (Very Funny Ladies: The New Yorker’s Women Cartoonists) taught a class on the history of The New Yorker cartoon at the 92NY. This year the 92NY has expanded the survey into four sessions. From their press release:  

                  A Brief History Of The New Yorker Cartoon 

Mar 16 – April 6, 2023. 7-8pm $160 for four sessions.

From its inaugural issue in 1925, The New Yorker has treasured its cartoon artists, understanding that visual humor is not only important but just plain fun. The history of the art form tells us a lot about ourselves and our culture. This class will dive into the world of The New Yorker cartoon from 1925 to 2022, profiling key artists and examining the power of their cartoons.
