Website Of Interest: Thurber House
Had a good time yesterday revisiting the Thurber House website, specifically the “About James Thurber” section , which features a short bio, a timeline and links to other resources. I always find much to explore, most especially in these links:

The Collection On James Thurber/Collection Inventory
The inventory is loaded with items I could spend months poring over (if I was in Ohio).
For those new to the Thurber House, it is the site of, and inspiration for, many of the most beloved Thurber stories and drawings, including “The Night The Bed Fell.”
Shown left is the must-have Thurber classic, My Life and Hard Times, first published in 1933 by Harper & Brothers (it includes “The Night The Bed Fell”) — it’s been reprinted a zillion times — meaning you can easily lay your hands on a copy. Happy reading…and happy visiting (either the website, or the Thurber House, or both).
And don’t forget the Thurber House “sister” site, overseen by the fab Michael Rosen: link here.
James Thurber’s A-Z Spill entry:

James Thurber Born, Columbus, Ohio, December 8, 1894. Died 1961, New York City. New Yorker work: 1927 -1961, with several pieces run posthumously. According to the New Yorker’s legendary editor, William Shawn, “In the early days, a small company of writers, artists, and editors — E.B. White, James Thurber, Peter Arno, and Katharine White among them — did more to make the magazine what it is than can be measured.”
Key cartoon collection: The Seal in the Bedroom and Other Predicaments (Harper & Bros., 1932). Key anthology (writings & drawings): The Thurber Carnival (Harper & Row, 1945). There have been a number of Thurber biographies. Burton Bernstein’s Thurber (Dodd, Mead, 1975) and Harrison Kinney’s James Thurber: His Life and Times (Henry Holt & Co., 1995) are essential.
