First & Last New Yorker Cartoon: Cyrus Baldridge
Of the seven hundred plus cartoonists who have contributed to The New Yorker in its near century of publication, the (roughly) seventy cartoonists who are members of the Spill‘s “One Club” are perhaps the most obscure. [One Club members are cartoonists who were published just once in The New Yorker. I’ve allowed for 20 years to elapse following their first appearance before inducting them into the club]. It’s always fascinated me why someone’s contribution would stop after one drawing was published. The reasons are likely as vast as the pool of contributing cartoonists.
