As you can see by the date of this issue of TV Week (from the Spill archives — yes, I hang onto everything), it was 22 years ago today that Adam Van Doren’s James Thurber: The Life And Hard Times premiered on television (at least in the Boston area). 
The documentary later came out on dvd, and is, of course, available right this minute to stream (for a price). For me, the highlight was finally seeing footage of Thurber speaking via a clip from Alistair Cooke’s Omnibus interview, “James Thurber — Man And Boy.” The Omnibus dvd, Omnibus American Profiles with the entire Thurber interview is highly recommended. The dvd package includes a booklet with a wonderful piece by Thurber’s daughter, Rosemary).
