When I visited the Westport Historical Society to see Cover Story: The New Yorker in Westport, I was taken by the short biographies posted around the room near each artist’s work. Until that afternoon in the gallery space I had never seen a photograph of Edna Eicke (above) or of James “Jimmy the Ink” Daugherty (below). There are seventeen of these artist biographies plus a biography of James Geraghty, The New Yorker‘s Art Editor from 1939 through 1973. The Westport Historical Society has been kind enough to allow all of them to be posted here on Ink Spill. I’ll post three or four a day every other day.
