"How The New Yorker Took Wing In Its Larval Years With Ross" -- From The New York Times, May 13, 2001, a review of Van Doren's documentary "Top Hat and Tales: Harold Ross and the Making of The New Yorker" http://query.nytimes.com/
A Hit and Run Review: It's a lot of fun watching these two films back-to-back. Each contains wonderful footage; the latter film includes color footage of Ross running the bases in a backyard game of baseball. Lending observations on camera are, among others, John Updike, Roger Angell, Philip Hamburger, Brendan Gill, David Remnick and Lee Lorenz.
