Steven Florio: New York Times obituary, and a personal note ; Newsday puts Steig exhibit in its Art Top 10 of 2007
From The New York Times, December 28, 2007, this obituary of Steve Florio: http://www.nytimes.com/
A Personal Note: I met Steve Florio just once, not too long after he had been named The New Yorker's president. This was at the magazine's old offices on 25 West 43rd Street. After dropping off work at the art department on the 20th floor, Liza Donnelly and I stepped through a door leading to a reception area, and there was Mr. Florio, waiting for the elevator. Recognizing him from the recent avalanche of press photos regarding his appointment, I said, "Hi" and introduced Liza and myself. He looked at us, smiled and said, "Cartoonists, right?" then smiling more broadly, corrected himself and said, "Uh, I mean artists. Mr. Shawn said we always refer to the cartoonists as 'artists'.
